Bill Romanowski (born April 2, 1966) is a former American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons. He was known for his aggressive playing style and durability, having played 243 consecutive games, an NFL record for a linebacker.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Romanowski was born in Rockville, Connecticut. He attended Rockville High School, where he excelled in football. He later attended Boston College, where he played college football for the Eagles and earned All-American honors.

Professional career[edit | edit source]

Romanowski was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1988 NFL Draft. He played for the 49ers from 1988 to 1993, winning two Super Bowl titles (XXIII and XXIV). In 1994, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played for two seasons.

In 1996, Romanowski joined the Denver Broncos, where he became a key player on defense. He helped the Broncos win two consecutive Super Bowls (XXXII and XXXIII). Romanowski was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1996 and 1998.

Romanowski finished his career with the Oakland Raiders, playing from 2002 to 2003. He played in his fifth Super Bowl with the Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII, although the team lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Throughout his career, Romanowski was involved in several on-field incidents, including altercations with teammates and opponents. He was fined multiple times by the NFL for his conduct. Despite these controversies, he was known for his intense preparation and commitment to the game.

After retiring from professional football, Romanowski pursued various business ventures, including a nutritional supplement company. He has also worked as a sports commentator and appeared in several films and television shows.
