Binh Dinh

Binh Dinh is a province of Vietnam, located in the country's South Central Coast. It is surrounded by Quang Ngai in the north, Gia Lai in the west, and Phu Yen in the south, while the East Sea lies to the east. The province's capital is Quy Nhon.

Binh Dinh has a rich history, with the area being the homeland of the Cham people until their defeat by the Vietnamese in the 15th century. The region was also a significant centre of resistance during the Vietnam War.

Geography[edit | edit source]

The province is mostly mountainous, with a coastal plain and a number of offshore islands. The An Lao River, Lai Giang River, and Kon River are the main rivers in Binh Dinh.

Economy[edit | edit source]

Binh Dinh's economy is primarily based on agriculture, with rice, maize, and sweet potato being the main crops. The province is also known for its forestry and fishing industries. In recent years, tourism has become an increasingly important sector, with the beautiful beaches and historical sites of Quy Nhon attracting visitors from around the world.

Binh Dinh is famous for its traditional martial arts, known as Binh Dinh martial arts, which have been practiced in the province for centuries. The region is also known for its unique style of folk music, called Bai Choi, which is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
