Bob Baumhower (born August 4, 1955) is a former professional American football player and a successful restaurateur. He played as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Miami Dolphins and is known for his contributions to the team's "Killer B's" defense in the early 1980s.

Early life and college career[edit | edit source]

Bob Baumhower was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He attended The University of Alabama, where he played college football under the legendary coach Bear Bryant. Baumhower was a standout player for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, earning All-American honors in 1976.

Baumhower was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 1977 NFL Draft. He quickly established himself as a key player on the Dolphins' defensive line. He played a crucial role in the "Killer B's" defense, which was instrumental in the Dolphins' success during the early 1980s.

During his career with the Dolphins, Baumhower was selected to the Pro Bowl five times and was named an All-Pro three times.
