The Miami Dolphins are a professional American football team based in Miami Gardens, Florida. They are a member of the AFC East division in the National Football League (NFL). The team was established in 1965 and began playing in the 1966 season. The Dolphins are known for their rich history, including two Super Bowl championships and the only perfect season in NFL history.

The Miami Dolphins were founded by attorney-politician Joe Robbie and actor-comedian Danny Thomas in 1965. The team began play in the American Football League (AFL) in 1966 before the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. The Dolphins experienced early success under head coach Don Shula, who led the team to two Super Bowl victories in the 1970s.
Perfect Season[edit | edit source]
In 1972, the Dolphins completed the only perfect season in NFL history, finishing with a 17-0 record and winning Super Bowl VII. The team followed up with another Super Bowl win in 1973, defeating the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VIII.
Recent Years[edit | edit source]
The Dolphins have had varied success in recent years, with several playoff appearances but no Super Bowl victories since the 1970s. The team is currently coached by Mike McDaniel and plays its home games at Hard Rock Stadium.
