The New York Jets are a professional American football team based in the New York metropolitan area. The Jets compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team is headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey. The Jets play their home games at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which they share with the New York Giants. The franchise is legally and corporately registered as New York Jets, LLC.

The team was founded in 1959 as the New York Titans, an original member of the American Football League (AFL); later, the franchise joined the NFL in the merger of 1970. The team was renamed the New York Jets in 1963. The Jets won their only Super Bowl title in Super Bowl III, defeating the Baltimore Colts in one of the greatest upsets in professional sports history.

The Jets' team colors are Gotham green, spotlight white, and stealth black. The team's mascot is Fireman Ed, a superfan known for leading the crowd in the "J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!" chant.
