Bob Deuell

Bob Deuell (born March 11, 1950) is an American physician and politician who served as a member of the Texas Senate representing the 2nd District from 2003 to 2015. He is a member of the Republican Party.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Deuell was born in Temple, Texas. He attended George Washington University where he earned his medical degree. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Medical Career[edit | edit source]

Before entering politics, Deuell worked as a family physician in Greenville, Texas. He has been recognized for his contributions to the medical field and has been involved in various medical organizations, including the Texas Medical Association.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Deuell was first elected to the Texas Senate in 2002, defeating the incumbent Democrat David Cain. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2010. During his tenure, he served on several committees, including the Health and Human Services Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Natural Resources Committee.

Legislative Achievements[edit | edit source]

Deuell was known for his work on healthcare issues, including efforts to improve access to medical care in rural areas and to reform the state's Medicaid system. He also worked on legislation related to public safety, education, and economic development.

Deuell is married to Marilyn Deuell, and they have three children. They reside in Greenville, Texas.
