The company was established in 1835 by George Booker as a small grocery wholesaler. Over the years, Booker Group expanded its operations and became one of the leading wholesale companies in the United Kingdom. In 2005, the company acquired the Makro Cash & Carry UK, further strengthening its position in the wholesale market.
In 2018, Booker Group was acquired by Tesco, one of the largest retail companies in the UK. The acquisition allowed Tesco to enhance its wholesale business and benefit from Booker Group's extensive distribution network.
