Brad Leone


Brad Leone is an American chef, YouTube personality, and a former test kitchen manager at Bon Appétit. He is best known for his appearances in the YouTube series It's Alive with Brad, where he explores food and fermentation.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Leone was born and raised in New Jersey. He developed an interest in cooking from a young age, often helping his mother in the kitchen. He later attended the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, where he honed his culinary skills.

Career[edit | edit source]

Leone began his career at Bon Appétit in 2011 as a prep cook, before working his way up to test kitchen manager. In this role, he was responsible for recipe development and testing, as well as managing the kitchen's operations.

In 2016, Leone began hosting It's Alive with Brad, a YouTube series produced by Bon Appétit. The show focuses on food and fermentation, with Leone often traveling to different locations to explore local food cultures and techniques. The series has been praised for its educational content and Leone's charismatic hosting style.

Leone left Bon Appétit in 2020, following a controversy over pay equity at the magazine. He has since launched his own YouTube channel, where he continues to share his culinary adventures.

Leone resides in New Jersey with his wife and two children. He is an avid outdoorsman, with interests in fishing, foraging, and sustainable living.
