Brain-sur-Longuenée

Brain-sur-Longuenée is a former commune in the Maine-et-Loire department in western France. On 15 December 2016, it was merged into the new commune Longuenée-en-Anjou. Despite its name, Brain-sur-Longuenée is not directly related to the medical term brain, which refers to an organ that serves as the center of the nervous system in all vertebrate and most invertebrate animals.

Brain-sur-Longuenée is located in the Pays de la Loire region of France. It is part of the arrondissement of Angers and is situated approximately 20 kilometers northwest of the city of Angers.

The history of Brain-sur-Longuenée dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was a small settlement in the Anjou province. The commune was officially established in the 19th century, and it remained a separate entity until its merger with Longuenée-en-Anjou in 2016.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the last census, Brain-sur-Longuenée had a population of approximately 1,000 residents. The majority of the population is French-speaking, with a small minority of residents who speak other languages.
