Briton Hadden was born on November 25, 1898, in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Harvard University where he met Henry Luce, with whom he would later establish Time magazine.

In 1923, Hadden and Luce co-founded Time magazine, which aimed to condense and summarize the news in a concise and accessible format. Hadden served as the editor of the publication and played a significant role in shaping its editorial direction.
