Bronson Arroyo

Bronson Anthony Arroyo (born February 24, 1977) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for several teams during his career. Known for his distinctive leg kick and durability, Arroyo was a key player for the teams he played for, particularly the Boston Red Sox and the Cincinnati Reds.

Arroyo was born in Key West, Florida. He attended Hernando High School in Brooksville, Florida, where he excelled in baseball. After high school, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft.

Major League Career[edit | edit source]

Pittsburgh Pirates[edit | edit source]

Arroyo made his MLB debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 12, 2000. He played with the Pirates until 2002, but struggled to find consistency.

Boston Red Sox[edit | edit source]

In 2003, Arroyo was claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox. He became a significant part of the Red Sox pitching staff and was a member of the 2004 team that won the 2004 World Series, ending the Red Sox's 86-year championship drought.

Cincinnati Reds[edit | edit source]

Arroyo was traded to the Cincinnati Reds before the 2006 season. He enjoyed some of the best years of his career with the Reds, earning an All-Star selection in 2006. He was known for his durability, often leading the league in innings pitched.

Later Career[edit | edit source]

Arroyo also had stints with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Washington Nationals. He retired from professional baseball in 2017.
