Bududa General Hospital

Bududa General Hospital is a public hospital located in the Bududa District of Uganda. It is one of the main healthcare facilities in the region, providing a range of medical services to the local population.

The hospital is situated in the town of Bududa, in the eastern region of Uganda. It is approximately 275 kilometers by road, northeast of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda.

Bududa General Hospital is a government-funded healthcare facility. It is classified as a General Hospital by the Uganda Ministry of Health. This classification means that the hospital provides both general and emergency medical services, including surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology, among others.

The hospital is part of the Bududa District Health System and is supervised by the Uganda Ministry of Health. It serves a catchment area that includes Bududa District and parts of the neighboring Manafwa District and Mbale District.

Bududa General Hospital offers a variety of healthcare services. These include outpatient consultation, inpatient care, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. The hospital also has a laboratory for diagnostic tests and a pharmacy for dispensing medications.

Challenges[edit | edit source]

Like many public hospitals in Uganda, Bududa General Hospital faces several challenges. These include inadequate funding, shortage of medical supplies, and a high patient-to-doctor ratio. Despite these challenges, the hospital continues to provide essential healthcare services to the local population.
