Bushells

Bushells is an Australian company that is known for its production of tea and coffee. The company was established in 1883 by Alfred Bushell, making it one of the oldest tea companies in Australia.

Alfred Bushell opened the first Bushells tea shop in Queensland in 1883. The company expanded rapidly, and by the early 20th century, it had become a household name in Australia. Bushells was the first company to sell packaged tea in Australia, which greatly contributed to its success.

In 1950, Bushells was acquired by Unilever, a multinational consumer goods company. Despite the change in ownership, the company continued to operate under the Bushells name. In 1998, Unilever sold the Bushells coffee business to FreshFood Services, but retained the tea business.
