Elizabeth Jean "Busy" Philipps was born on June 25, 1979, in Oak Park, Illinois. She was given the nickname "Busy" as an infant because she was always moving. Philipps grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she attended Chaparral High School. During her high school years, she developed an interest in acting and participated in various school plays.

Early Career[edit | edit source]
Busy Philipps began her acting career with guest roles on television. Her first major role was as Kim Kelly in the teen drama series Freaks and Geeks, which aired from 1999 to 2000. Although the show was short-lived, it gained a cult following and helped launch Philipps's career.
Film and Television[edit | edit source]
After "Freaks and Geeks," Philipps appeared in several films, including "The Smokers" (2000) and "Home Room" (2002). She gained further recognition for her role as Audrey Liddell on the teen drama series Dawson's Creek, appearing from 2001 to 2003.
Philipps continued to work in television, with notable roles in "ER" and "Love, Inc.". In 2009, she joined the cast of the comedy series Cougar Town, playing the role of Laurie Keller. Her performance earned her a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Recent Work[edit | edit source]
In addition to acting, Philipps has ventured into hosting and writing. She hosted her own late-night talk show, "Busy Tonight", which aired from 2018 to 2019. Philipps is also the author of the memoir "This Will Only Hurt a Little", published in 2018, which became a New York Times Best Seller.

Busy Philipps married screenwriter Marc Silverstein in 2007. The couple has two daughters, Birdie Leigh and Cricket Pearl. Philipps is known for her candid and humorous presence on social media, where she shares insights into her personal life and career.
