Cæsar Boeck is best known for his work on sarcoidosis, a disease that affects multiple organs, particularly the skin and lungs. In 1899, he published a seminal paper describing the condition, which he referred to as "multiple benign sarcoid of the skin." This work laid the foundation for the modern understanding of sarcoidosis, and the disease is sometimes referred to as "Boeck's sarcoid" in his honor.
Boeck's research extended beyond sarcoidosis. He was involved in the classification of various skin diseases and contributed to the development of dermatological terminology. His work helped establish dermatology as a distinct medical specialty in Norway.
