CURE Children's Hospital Of Uganda

CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda (also known as CURE Uganda) is a specialized pediatric neurosurgery hospital located in Mbale, Uganda. The hospital is a project of CURE International, a non-profit organization that operates charitable hospitals and programs in 14 countries worldwide.

CURE Uganda was established in 2000 as a response to the overwhelming need for treatment of hydrocephalus and spina bifida in the country. It was the first hospital in Africa dedicated to these conditions and has since become a leading treatment center for pediatric neurosurgery.

Services[edit | edit source]

The hospital provides a range of services including neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and physical rehabilitation. It is particularly known for its innovative ETV/CPC treatment for hydrocephalus, which has significantly reduced the need for shunt surgeries in many patients.

Research[edit | edit source]

CURE Uganda is also a center for research and training. It has contributed to numerous scientific publications and has trained medical professionals from around the world in its specialized procedures.

Impact[edit | edit source]

Since its inception, CURE Uganda has treated over 12,000 children with hydrocephalus and spina bifida. It has also provided training to over 100 medical professionals, contributing to the development of pediatric neurosurgery in Africa.
