CaliforniaVolunteers
CaliforniaVolunteers is the state office that manages programs and initiatives aimed at increasing the number of Californians engaged in service and volunteering. CaliforniaVolunteers is led by the state's Chief Service Officer, a position created by legislation in 2010 to promote service and volunteerism statewide.

CaliforniaVolunteers was established in 2006 through an executive order by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and was later codified into law in 2010. The office is part of the California Governor's Office and is responsible for promoting and encouraging Californians to participate in community service and volunteer activities.

CaliforniaVolunteers oversees several programs and initiatives, including the California Disaster Corps, the California Citizen Corps, and the AmeriCorps programs in California. These programs aim to mobilize Californians to participate in service and volunteer activities, particularly in response to disasters and emergencies.

The California Disaster Corps is a program that trains and certifies volunteers to assist in disaster response and recovery efforts. The program was established in 2009 and is the first of its kind in the nation.
