Calmont is a hill located in the Eifel mountain range in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is renowned for its steep vineyards and is part of the Moselle Valley.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Calmont rises to an elevation of 380 meters above sea level. It is situated between the towns of Bremm and Ediger-Eller, along the Moselle River. The hill is part of the Eifel range, which is known for its volcanic origins and scenic landscapes.

Viticulture[edit | edit source]

Calmont is famous for its vineyards, which are among the steepest in Europe. The slopes of Calmont have an incline of up to 65 degrees, making viticulture particularly challenging. The vineyards primarily produce Riesling wines, which are highly regarded for their quality and unique flavor profile.
