Campbell County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,377, making it one of the least populous counties in South Dakota. The county seat is Mound City. The county was created in 1883 and named for Norman B. Campbell, a Dakota Territory legislator.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 771 square miles (2,000 km²), of which 734 square miles (1,900 km²) is land and 37 square miles (96 km²) (4.8%) is water. The Missouri River forms the county's eastern boundary.

As of the 2020 census, there were 1,377 people, 635 households, and 398 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.9 inhabitants per square mile (0.73/km²). There were 1,020 housing units at an average density of 1.4 per square mile (0.54/km²).
