Caroline County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 30,187. Its county seat is Bowling Green.
History[edit | edit source]
Caroline County was established in 1728 from parts of Essex, King and Queen, and King William counties. It was named for Caroline of Ansbach, the wife of King George II of Great Britain.
Geography[edit | edit source]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 537 square miles (1,390 km²), of which 528 square miles (1,370 km²) is land and 9 square miles (23 km²) (1.7%) is water.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 census, there were 30,187 people, 10,000 households, and 7,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 57 people per square mile (22/km²).

Caroline County is governed by a Board of Supervisors, consisting of representatives from each of the county's districts. The county is part of Virginia's 1st congressional district.

Caroline County is served by Caroline County Public Schools, which includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.
