Cebu Province

Cebu Province is a province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region. It is composed of Cebu Island and 167 surrounding islands and islets. The capital of the province is Cebu City, which is one of the most developed cities in the country.

Cebu Province has a rich history dating back to the 10th century. It was a major trading center before the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century. The province was the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines and served as the capital of the country for 44 years.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Cebu Province is located in the central part of the Visayas region. It is surrounded by the provinces of Negros Oriental to the west, Bohol to the east, and Leyte to the north. The province has a diverse geography with coastal plains, mountainous areas, and rolling hills.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The economy of Cebu Province is one of the most dynamic in the country. It is a major hub for commerce, industry, and education in the Visayas. The province is also known for its thriving tourism industry, with popular destinations such as the Basilica del Santo Niño, Magellan's Cross, and the white sand beaches of Bantayan Island and Malapascua Island.

Cebu Province is known for its rich cultural heritage. The province is home to the Sinulog Festival, one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the country. Cebuano, also known as Bisaya, is the main language spoken in the province.
