Celeste (frozen pizza)

Celeste is a brand of frozen pizza products that originated in the United States. The brand is owned by Pinnacle Foods, a subsidiary of Conagra Brands, and is known for its line of single-serving "Pizza for One" products.

History[edit | edit source]

The Celeste brand was created by Rose Totino, a pioneer in the frozen pizza industry, in the 1930s. Totino and her husband, Jim, started a take-out pizzeria in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which eventually grew into a frozen pizza business. The brand was named after their daughter, Celeste.

In 1975, the Totinos sold their business to Pillsbury, which later became part of General Mills. In 2001, Pinnacle Foods acquired the Celeste brand from Aurora Foods, which had previously bought it from Pillsbury.

Products[edit | edit source]

Celeste offers a variety of frozen pizza products, including its signature "Pizza for One" line. These pizzas are designed to be cooked in a microwave or oven and are available in several flavors, including pepperoni, four cheese, and vegetable.

In addition to its "Pizza for One" products, Celeste also offers larger pizzas and pizza snacks. The brand's product line has evolved over the years to include more diverse offerings, such as gluten-free and organic options.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Celeste pizzas have been well-received by consumers for their convenience and taste. However, they have also been criticized for their high sodium content and use of artificial ingredients.
