Champagne Delamotte
Champagne Delamotte is a prestigious Champagne house located in the Champagne region of France. Established in 1760, it is one of the oldest Champagne houses and is renowned for its high-quality sparkling wines. The house is situated in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, which is part of the Côte des Blancs subregion, known for its exceptional Chardonnay vineyards.
History[edit | edit source]
Champagne Delamotte was founded by François Delamotte, a vineyard owner in Reims. Over the centuries, the house has maintained its reputation for producing elegant and refined champagnes. In 1988, Champagne Delamotte became part of the Laurent-Perrier group, which also owns the prestigious Champagne Salon.
Vineyards[edit | edit source]
The vineyards of Champagne Delamotte are primarily located in the Côte des Blancs, a region celebrated for its chalky soils and ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay grapes. The house sources its grapes from some of the finest Grand Cru vineyards, including Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, and Oger.
Production[edit | edit source]
Champagne Delamotte specializes in producing Blanc de Blancs champagnes, which are made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. The house employs traditional methods of Champagne production, including hand harvesting, méthode champenoise, and extended aging on the lees to enhance the complexity and finesse of its wines.
Notable Champagnes[edit | edit source]
Some of the notable champagnes produced by Champagne Delamotte include:
- Delamotte Blanc de Blancs - A pure expression of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs.
- Delamotte Brut - A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
- Delamotte Rosé - A delicate and elegant rosé champagne.
