Chester Andrew "Chet" Jastremski (January 12, 1941 – May 3, 2014) was an American swimmer and Olympic medalist. He was known for his achievements in the breaststroke and for setting multiple world records during his career.

Early Life and Education

Chet Jastremski was born in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Indiana University Bloomington, where he swam for the Indiana Hoosiers swimming and diving team under the guidance of renowned coach Doc Counsilman. Jastremski graduated with a degree in medicine and later became a practicing physician.

Swimming Career

Jastremski was a dominant force in the breaststroke during the early 1960s. He set multiple world records in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events. His innovative technique, which included a more streamlined and efficient stroke, revolutionized the way the breaststroke was swum.

Olympic Games

Jastremski competed in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He won a bronze medal in the 200-meter breaststroke and was a member of the U.S. team that finished fourth in the 4x100-meter medley relay.
