Cholangiocytes contribute to the transport of bile from the liver to the gallbladder and small intestine. Cholangiopathies are characterized by inflammation and fibrosis of the bile ducts, impairing the flow of bile. Cholestasis refers to the accumulation of bile in the liver, leading to jaundice and other symptoms.
