Anatomy[edit | edit source]
The Cistern of Lateral Cerebral Fossa is located in the lateral cerebral fossa, which is a depression in the Cerebral hemispheres. It is filled with cerebrospinal fluid, which provides a cushion for the brain and spinal cord.
Function[edit | edit source]
The primary function of the Cistern of Lateral Cerebral Fossa is to act as a reservoir for cerebrospinal fluid. This fluid acts as a cushion, protecting the brain and spinal cord from injury.
Clinical significance[edit | edit source]
Abnormalities in the Cistern of Lateral Cerebral Fossa can lead to various neurological conditions. For example, a blockage in the cistern can cause a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid, leading to Hydrocephalus.
