Clemens Wilmenrod
Clemens Wilmenrod (24 July 1906 – 12 April 1967) was a German chef and television presenter. He is widely regarded as the first German television chef and is credited with popularizing modern German cuisine through his innovative and entertaining cooking shows.

Clemens Wilmenrod was born as Carl Clemens Hahn in Willmenrod, a small village in the Westerwald region of Germany. He initially pursued a career in acting and worked in various theaters across Germany before transitioning to television.
Career[edit | edit source]
Wilmenrod's career took a significant turn when he began hosting the cooking show Bitte in zehn Minuten zu Tisch ("Please be seated in ten minutes") on ARD in 1953. The show quickly gained popularity, making Wilmenrod a household name. He was known for his charismatic personality and his ability to make cooking accessible and entertaining for the average viewer.

Clemens Wilmenrod is credited with introducing several dishes that have since become staples in German cuisine. Some of his notable creations include:
- Toast Hawaii: A dish consisting of a slice of toast topped with ham, pineapple, and melted cheese.
- Arabian Horseman's Delight: A dish made with minced meat, onions, and spices, served with rice.
- Stuffed Peppers: Bell peppers stuffed with a mixture of meat and rice.

Wilmenrod was married to Erika Wilmenrod, who often assisted him on his television show. Despite his success, he struggled with personal issues and health problems later in life.
