- Coal Valley, Illinois is a village located in both Rock Island County, Illinois and Henry County, Illinois. The village is part of the Quad Cities metropolitan area. The population was 3,743 at the 2010 census, up from 3,606 in 2000.

- Coal Valley was incorporated in 1856. The village's name is a direct translation of the native American Indian name for the area, due to the heavy coal deposits found there.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Coal Valley is located at 41°26′35″N 90°27′5″W (41.443, -90.451). According to the 2010 census, Coal Valley has a total area of 2.76 square miles, all land.
