- Columbus is a city located in Colorado County, Texas, United States. It serves as the county seat of Colorado County and is situated on the Colorado River. The city is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area and is located 74 miles west of Houston.

- The city of Columbus was established in 1823 by members of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred, and it was named for Columbus, Ohio. The city has a rich history, with many of its buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
