Cortical refers to the outer layer of the brain, the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex plays a key role in memory, attention, perception, cognition, awareness, thought, language, and consciousness.
Anatomy[edit | edit source]
The cerebral cortex is the outermost layer of the brain, visible to the naked eye and divided into two hemispheres. Each hemisphere is divided into four main lobes: the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, and occipital lobe.
