Culiacán is the capital and largest city of the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. It is located in the central region of the state, in the Culiacán Valley, and is an important economic and cultural center.

Culiacán was founded in 1531 by the Spanish conquerors Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán and Diego de Guzmán. The city has a rich history that includes its role as a center of agriculture and trade during the colonial period.
