Cwmbran is a town in Torfaen, Wales, located in the southeast of the country. It was established as a new town in 1949 to provide new employment opportunities in the South Wales Coalfield area. Cwmbran is part of the historic county of Monmouthshire.

Cwmbran's history dates back to the Iron Age, with evidence of early settlements in the area. The name "Cwmbran" is derived from the Welsh words "cwm" meaning "valley" and "bran" meaning "crow".
