D. L. Clark Company[edit | edit source]

The D. L. Clark Company is a historic confectionery company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1886 by David L. Clark, and it quickly became known for its delicious candies and chocolates.

History[edit | edit source]

David L. Clark started the company with the goal of creating high-quality confections that would satisfy the sweet tooth of the American public. He began by producing hand-dipped chocolates and caramels, which were an instant hit.

In 1902, the company introduced its most famous product, the Clark Bar. This candy bar, made with a peanut butter center and covered in milk chocolate, became a beloved treat across the United States. The Clark Bar remains one of the company's most popular products to this day.

Over the years, the D. L. Clark Company expanded its product line to include a variety of candies, such as candy-coated chocolates, licorice, and hard candies. The company also introduced innovative packaging designs to attract customers.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

The D. L. Clark Company played a significant role in the confectionery industry, particularly in the early 20th century. Its candies and chocolates were widely enjoyed and recognized for their quality. The Clark Bar, in particular, became an iconic American candy.

In 1955, the D. L. Clark Company was acquired by the New England Confectionery Company (NECCO). NECCO continued to produce Clark Bar and other D. L. Clark Company products under its own brand.
