DR2

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

DR2 or HLA-DR2 is a human leukocyte antigen serotype within HLA-DR serogroup. The serotype is determined by the antibody recognition of β2 subset of HLA-DR. It is a cell surface receptor involved in immune system regulation.

Function[edit | edit source]

DR2 is a part of the HLA class II molecule group, which are involved in the immune system's ability to distinguish self from non-self. These molecules are integral to the immune response, including antigen presentation, T cell activation, and cytokine production.

Associations with diseases[edit | edit source]

HLA-DR2 serotype has been associated with several autoimmune and infectious diseases, including multiple sclerosis, narcolepsy, and Lyme disease. However, the exact role of HLA-DR2 in these diseases is not fully understood and is the subject of ongoing research.
