Da Brat is an American rapper and actress. She was born on April 14, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois. Her real name is Shawntae Harris. Da Brat rose to fame in the early 1990s with her debut album, Funkdafied, released in 1994. She was the first female solo rap artist to have a platinum-selling album.

Da Brat grew up on the west side of Chicago. She was raised in a family of musicians and began rapping at a young age. She was discovered by producer Jermaine Dupri in 1992, which led to her signing with his label, So So Def Recordings.
Music Career[edit | edit source]
Da Brat's debut album, Funkdafied, was a commercial success and featured hit singles such as "Funkdafied" and "Give It 2 You". She continued to release several albums throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, including Anuthatantrum and Unrestricted.
In addition to her solo career, Da Brat has collaborated with various artists, such as Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim, and TLC. She is known for her unique flow and lyrical style, which has earned her a loyal fan base.
