Daniel Hale Rowan (July 22, 1922 – September 22, 1987) was an American comedian and actor. He is best known for being the co-host of the television show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Dan Rowan was born in Beggs, Oklahoma. He was orphaned at the age of 11 and subsequently raised in McClellan, California. Rowan served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Career[edit | edit source]

After the war, Rowan moved to Hollywood and began his career in entertainment. He initially worked as a writer before forming a comedy duo with Dick Martin. The pair gained popularity and eventually hosted the groundbreaking television show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In from 1968 to 1973. The show was known for its rapid-fire comedy sketches and satirical humor, and it played a significant role in shaping American television comedy.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Rowan was married three times and had three children. He spent his later years in Englewood, Florida, where he passed away from lymphoma in 1987.
