David Blumenthal
David Blumenthal is an American physician, academic, and healthcare policy expert. He is best known for his work in the field of health information technology and his role in the implementation of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act).

David Blumenthal was born in New York City. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He also holds a master's degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Blumenthal began his career as a practicing physician and later transitioned into academia and healthcare policy. He has held various academic positions, including serving as a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and as the chief health information and innovation officer at Partners HealthCare.

Blumenthal is widely recognized for his contributions to the field of health information technology. He was appointed by President Barack Obama as the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, a position he held from 2009 to 2011. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the HITECH Act, which aimed to promote the adoption and meaningful use of health information technology.

After his tenure as National Coordinator, Blumenthal became the president of the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that supports independent research on healthcare issues.
