David Boston
David Byron Boston (born August 19, 1978) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL). Born in Humble, Texas, Boston played college football at Ohio State University, where he was recognized as a consensus All-American.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
David Boston was born in Humble, Texas, and attended Humble High School, where he excelled in football and track. He was highly recruited out of high school and chose to attend Ohio State University, where he played for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team from 1996 to 1998. During his time at Ohio State, Boston set school records for receiving yards and touchdowns.
Professional career[edit | edit source]
Boston was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He played for the Cardinals from 1999 to 2002, where he had his most productive season in 2001, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors after recording 98 receptions for 1,598 yards and eight touchdowns.
In 2003, Boston signed with the San Diego Chargers, but his time there was marred by injuries and off-field issues. He then played briefly for the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before injuries ultimately ended his career.
Post-career and personal life[edit | edit source]
After retiring from professional football, Boston faced several legal issues and was reported to have struggled with substance abuse. His post-NFL life has been relatively private, with few public appearances or statements.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
David Boston is remembered for his physical style of play and his brief period of dominance in the NFL. Despite a promising start to his career, his potential was largely unfulfilled due to injuries and personal issues.
