Dearborn

Dearborn is a city located in the state of Michigan, United States. It is the eighth largest city in Michigan and the second largest city in Wayne County. Dearborn is known for its deep ties to the automobile industry, being the birthplace of Henry Ford and the headquarters of the Ford Motor Company.

History

Dearborn was first settled in the late 18th century by French farmers, in a series of ribbon farms along the Rouge River and the Sauk Trail. The city was named after Henry Dearborn, a general in the American Revolutionary War who later served as Secretary of War under President Thomas Jefferson.

Economy

Dearborn's economy is dominated by manufacturing, particularly automotive. The Ford Motor Company has its world headquarters in Dearborn. In addition to Ford, several other auto-related companies have facilities in Dearborn, including Visteon and AK Steel.

Culture

Dearborn is home to the Henry Ford Museum, one of the largest indoor-outdoor history museum complexes in the United States. The city also hosts the annual Dearborn Homecoming festival, which celebrates the city's history and culture.

Dearborn has a number of public and private schools, including Dearborn High School and Divine Child High School. The city is also home to the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Henry Ford College.

Dearborn has a diverse population, with a large number of residents of Arab descent. The city has one of the largest Arab-American populations in the United States.
