Delaware

Delaware is a state located in the United States. It is the second smallest and sixth least populous state, but also the sixth most densely populated. Delaware's largest city is Wilmington, while its capital is Dover.

History

Delaware was the first state to join the United States, doing so on December 7, 1787. It was originally inhabited by several groups of Native Americans, including the Lenape in the north and Nanticoke in the south. It was initially colonized by Dutch traders in 1631, but was seized by the English in 1664.

Geography

Delaware is located on the Atlantic Coast and is bordered by Pennsylvania to the north, New Jersey to the east, and Maryland to the south and west. It is the second smallest state in the country, with a total area of 1,949 square miles.
