Desperate Measures is a 1998 American action film directed by Barbet Schroeder and starring Michael Keaton and Andy García. The film revolves around San Francisco police officer Frank Conner, played by García, who is desperate to find a compatible bone marrow donor for his son Matt, who has leukemia. Conner discovers that Peter McCabe, a sociopathic criminal played by Keaton, is a perfect match. Frank Conner is a dedicated police officer whose son, Matt, is dying from leukemia. After exhaustive searches, Conner finds out that Peter McCabe, a convicted murderer with no regard for human life, is a perfect bone marrow match for his son. Conner arranges for McCabe to be transferred to a hospital to perform the transplant. However, McCabe sees this as an opportunity to escape and takes hostages in the hospital. Conner must navigate the moral dilemma of saving his son's life at the potential cost of letting a dangerous criminal go free.
