Dhaka Dental College And Hospital
Dhaka Dental College and Hospital is a government medical college for dental surgery and dental medicine in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is located in the Mirpur area of Dhaka city and is the largest dental educational institution in Bangladesh.

Dhaka Dental College and Hospital was established in 1961, making it the first dental college in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. The college started its journey with only 50 students, and over the years, it has grown to accommodate more than 500 students.
Academics[edit | edit source]
The college offers a five-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree, which is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. The academic curriculum is divided into four phases, each ending with a professional examination. After successful completion of the BDS degree, students can pursue postgraduate studies in various specialties of dentistry.
Hospital[edit | edit source]
The Dhaka Dental College Hospital is a 500-bed hospital that provides oral and dental healthcare services to the people of Bangladesh. The hospital has various departments such as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontology, Prosthodontics, and Pediatric Dentistry.
Research[edit | edit source]
The college encourages research activities and has a research cell that coordinates all research-related activities. The research cell also publishes a biannual journal, the "Bangladesh Journal of Dental Research & Education".
Notable alumni[edit | edit source]
Many of the college's alumni have made significant contributions to the field of dentistry in Bangladesh and abroad. Some of the notable alumni include Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Ahsan, former president of the Bangladesh Dental Society, and Dr. Abul Kashem Mohammad Mohsin, a renowned dental surgeon and academician.
