Education in Bangladesh
Education in Bangladesh is overseen by the Ministry of Education. The education system in Bangladesh is divided into four levels: primary, secondary, higher secondary and tertiary.
Primary Education[edit | edit source]
Primary education in Bangladesh is compulsory and it is provided by the government at no cost. The primary education system is divided into five grades, from grade one to five. The Bangladesh Primary Education Board is responsible for administering primary education in the country.
Secondary Education[edit | edit source]
Secondary education in Bangladesh is divided into two stages: junior secondary and secondary. The junior secondary stage includes grades six to eight, while the secondary stage includes grades nine and ten. The Bangladesh Secondary Education Board oversees the secondary education system.
Higher Secondary Education[edit | edit source]
Higher secondary education in Bangladesh, also known as intermediate education, includes grades eleven and twelve. Students who complete higher secondary education are eligible to apply for admission to university or other higher education institutions.
Tertiary Education[edit | edit source]
Tertiary education in Bangladesh is provided by universities and other higher education institutions. The University Grants Commission is responsible for funding, planning, and coordinating higher education in the country.
Challenges[edit | edit source]
Despite significant progress in recent years, the education system in Bangladesh faces several challenges, including overcrowding, inadequate facilities, and a shortage of trained teachers. The government has implemented several initiatives to address these issues, such as the Education Policy 2010.
