Dick Wagner
Dick Wagner (December 14, 1942 – July 30, 2014) was an American rock music guitarist, songwriter, and author. He is best known for his work with Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, and Kiss. Wagner was a prominent figure in the rock music scene from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Wagner was born in Oelwein, Iowa, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He began playing guitar at an early age and formed his first band, The Bossmen, in the early 1960s. The band achieved regional success in Michigan.
Career[edit | edit source]
The Frost[edit | edit source]
In the late 1960s, Wagner formed the band The Frost, which became a popular act in the Detroit rock scene. The Frost released three albums and gained a loyal following, but they never achieved national success.
Work with Alice Cooper[edit | edit source]
Wagner's most notable collaboration was with Alice Cooper. He co-wrote many of Cooper's hits, including "Only Women Bleed," "I Never Cry," and "You and Me." Wagner also played guitar on several of Cooper's albums, including Welcome to My Nightmare and Goes to Hell.
Lou Reed and Kiss[edit | edit source]
Wagner worked with Lou Reed on the albums Berlin and Rock 'n' Roll Animal. His guitar work on these albums is highly regarded. He also contributed to Kiss's album Destroyer, playing the guitar solo on the track "Flaming Youth."

In addition to his work with other artists, Wagner released several solo albums. His solo work showcased his skills as a guitarist and songwriter.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Wagner struggled with health issues later in life, including a heart attack and a stroke. He passed away on July 30, 2014, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
