Dixmoor, IL
Dixmoor is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The village is a suburb of Chicago and is located about 16 miles south of the Chicago Loop. As of the 2010 census, the village had a population of 3,644.

- Dixmoor was incorporated as a village in 1922. The village's name is derived from its location; it is situated approximately ten miles from the Illinois-Indiana state line and six miles from the Illinois-Michigan state line, hence the name "Dix" (ten in French) and "moor" (an old English term for a marshy area).
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Dixmoor is located at 41°37′35″N 87°39′52″W. According to the 2010 census, Dixmoor has a total area of 1.25 square miles, all land.
