In a double-blind study, neither the participants nor the experimenters know who is receiving a particular treatment. This method is considered the gold standard in experimental research because it minimizes the risk of results being skewed by either the placebo effect or the researchers' expectations.

  5. Analysis: After the study is completed, the code is broken, revealing which participants were in each group. The data can then be analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the treatment.

The double-blind method has several advantages:

  • It reduces bias in the results, as neither the expectations of the participants nor those of the researchers influence the outcomes.
