Dr. Evil is a fictional character from the Austin Powers series of films. He is the main antagonist and is portrayed by Mike Myers, who also plays the series' protagonist, Austin Powers. Dr. Evil is a parody of various James Bond villains, particularly Ernst Stavro Blofeld of the SPECTRE organization. Dr. Evil's character is known for his outlandish schemes to extort large sums of money from the world's governments by threatening global destruction.

Character Overview[edit | edit source]

Dr. Evil is the leader of an evil organization intent on world domination. His plans are consistently thwarted by his arch-nemesis, Austin Powers. Dr. Evil's most notable catchphrases include "One million dollars!"—a sum that is humorously outdated as a ransom demand—and "Throw me a frickin' bone here, people," expressing his frustration with his subordinates' incompetence. He is also known for his peculiar mannerisms, such as the "pinky gesture," where he places his pinky finger to the corner of his mouth when thinking or making a demand.

Creation and Development[edit | edit source]

The character first appeared in the 1997 film Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and returned for the sequels Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002). Myers' portrayal of Dr. Evil has been praised for its originality and humor, making the character a cultural icon in his own right.
