Dublin Dr Pepper was a popular soft drink that was produced by the Dublin Bottling Works in Dublin, Texas, United States. It was a unique variation of the classic Dr Pepper soda, known for its distinct flavor and loyal fan base.

History[edit | edit source]

Dublin Dr Pepper was first introduced in 1891 by pharmacist Charles Alderton in Waco, Texas. The drink quickly gained popularity and was eventually bottled and distributed by various independent bottlers across the United States.

In 1891, Sam Houston Prim, a businessman from Dublin, Texas, acquired the rights to bottle Dr Pepper in his hometown. The Dublin Bottling Works was established, and Dublin Dr Pepper became a local favorite.

For over a century, Dublin Dr Pepper was produced using pure cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, giving it a unique and nostalgic taste that set it apart from other sodas on the market.

Discontinuation[edit | edit source]

In 2012, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group, the parent company of Dr Pepper, filed a lawsuit against the Dublin Bottling Works, alleging trademark infringement. The lawsuit resulted in a settlement that prohibited the Dublin Bottling Works from using the "Dublin Dr Pepper" name and recipe.

As a result, Dublin Dr Pepper was officially discontinued in 2012, much to the disappointment of its dedicated fan base.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Despite its discontinuation, Dublin Dr Pepper remains a beloved and iconic brand among soda enthusiasts. The unique flavor and history of Dublin Dr Pepper continue to be celebrated by collectors and fans alike.

Today, the Dublin Bottling Works produces a variety of other sodas and beverages, but the original Dublin Dr Pepper recipe and branding are no longer used.
