Durex is a registered trademark name for a range of condoms that were made by United Kingdom-based SSL International. This company was sold to Reckitt Benckiser in July 2010. The name Durex refers to the original company name, "Durability, Reliability, and Excellence."

History[edit | edit source]

The Durex range was first launched in the United Kingdom in the year 1915 by The London Rubber Company. The company was initially importing and selling tires and rubber balloons. In the 1920s, the company began to manufacture its own brand of condoms under the Durex brand.

Marketing[edit | edit source]

Durex has a significant market presence in over 150 countries, with marketing activities focused on the promotion of sexual health and well-being.
