Durhane Wong-Rieger

Durhane Wong-Rieger is a Canadian health advocate and psychologist. She is the president and CEO of the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD), and the chair of the International Alliance of Patients' Organizations (IAPO).

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Wong-Rieger was born in China and raised in Canada. She earned her PhD in psychology from the University of Michigan.

Career[edit | edit source]

Wong-Rieger began her career as a professor of psychology at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit. She later transitioned into health advocacy, focusing on rare diseases and patient rights.

As the president and CEO of CORD, Wong-Rieger advocates for improved access to treatment and care for individuals with rare disorders. She also serves as the chair of IAPO, a global alliance representing patients of all nationalities across all disease areas.

Wong-Rieger has also served on numerous health-related advisory boards, including the Health Council of Canada and the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health.

Wong-Rieger has received several awards for her work in health advocacy, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
